Following his withdrawal from England duty, Cole Palmer shows up at a football game disguised.

The playmaker has come under fire for his decision to leave England’s squad, and several players have given injury as their excuse. Harry Kane, who insisted that country should come before club, was a strong critic of those who ignored this series of international matches.

Palmer has experienced a quick ascent and is relatively new to the England setup. The Chelsea player had a fantastic season the previous season and was among the Premier League’s best players, which helped him secure a place in the team that traveled to the Euros.

However, he has made no secret of his displeasure with Gareth Southgate’s decision to mostly bench him and relegate him to cameos. Palmer stepped off the bench to score in the championship game, but has questioned how he could have performed to earn a spot.

“Not playing was tough,” the Blues star told Sky Sports. Being a new player, you’re entering a new group with guys who have been there for a while. To be fair, they all accepted me, as they should with all the younger players. Therefore, it was fairly simple to get settled in, but you were clearly not playing and you were asking yourself “why.”

Palmer responded, “I didn’t question my ability because I knew what I did in the season,” when asked if he had any doubts about his own abilities. I simply thought, “When I do get on, I’m just going to try to make an impact and do something.” You’re just wondering “why” and similar questions.
