The next Deadpool film has already sparked excitement among Marvel fans.
Thanks to projects that are available in theaters and on streaming services like Disney+, the MarvelBite your tongue now. That would be wonderful, but there’s a reason why the last one was six years ago. It completely consumes my life. I would also like to introduce myself to my four children.
Universe is a well-oiled machine that is constantly expanding. Deadpool & Wolverine was the most recent release, setting records and demonstrating the MCU’s continued viability. Fans are already speculating about Wade Wilson’s potential return in a future Marvel film in light of this incredible success. When asked (again) about Deadpool 4, Ryan Reynolds’ response was hilariously spot-on.
Some fans who have spent years watching the Marvel movies in order worried about how the R-rated Deadpool franchise would fit into the shared universe, but the threequel really worked. In a recent interview with Extra TV, Reynolds was asked if a sequel to Deadpool & Wolverine was in the works. In response, he said:
Bite your tongue now. That would be wonderful, but there’s a reason why the last one was six years ago. It completely consumes my life. I would also like to introduce myself to my four children.
There were points raised. It goes without saying that Ryan Reynolds works extremely hard on the Deadpool films as a writer, producer, and actor. Filming Deadpool & Wolverine also took longer than expected because of strikes-related delays. When you factor in the editing and press tour, Reynolds may require a much-needed respite before starting a fourth film.
Hopefully, Ryan Reynolds will still get to play his signature role even though he doesn’t want to jump right into another Deadpool film. Specifically, in the upcoming major crossover events of the MCU, such as Avengers: Doomsday. It makes sense to include the two title characters in the upcoming major conflict involving Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, given how well Deadpool and Wolverine did at the box office.
Naturally, none of this has been verified as of yet. The fandom is eager to see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes reunited, but it is currently completely unknown which characters will make an appearance in Doomsday. Furthermore, it seems as though anything could happen in the story with the multiverse at work.
Compared to recent box office failures like The Marvels, Deadpool & Wolverine’s performance was a sharp contrast. Even though I thought the Captain Marvel sequel was fantastic, the studio lost money on it. It used to be a given that MCU films would be successful, but that is no longer the case. Therefore, it makes sense that the studio might want to prioritize Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds for upcoming projects, even if it takes several years before we see another Deadpool film.
Captain America: Brave New World will be the next MCU film to be released in theaters on February 14. Check out the 2025 movie release dates for the time being.
