This season, Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets aren’t seeing the outcomes they were hoping for. Fans at MetLife Stadium are accustomed to this issue, so it’s not a “new” one for the Jets. For the four-time NFL MVP, however, who always demands perfection, this season has been anything but typical.
Woody Johnson, the owner of the Jets, is among those who have questioned whether the 40-year-old quarterback ought to be benched. With only one other quarterback on the active roster, 35-year-old Tyrod Taylor, the Jets don’t really have a better choice. Rodgers is doing everything he can to ensure that he doesn’t lose his starting position to someone else because the Jets are 3-8 and have nothing left to play for this season except pride.
To what extent is Aaron Rodgers injured? No one is aware.
The New York Jets may need to come up with an alternative if the coaching staff is unwilling to consider benching their franchise quarterback because of performance or just to see another quarterback. Eliminating Aaron Rodgers from the starting lineup because of his injury is one possible remedy.
The only problem, though, is that the former Super Bowl champion quarterback has refused to follow the rules and is putting off comprehensive medical examinations in an attempt to avoid being benched.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network claims that even Rodgers’ hamstring injury wouldn’t stop him. Upon being asked about his current situation, Rodgers promptly responded, “I’m playing.” According to reports, this has been the Jets quarterback’s recurring theme this season.
According to one source, Rodgers has resisted having scans performed because he is afraid of having to leave the field due to the severity of his injuries. He has insisted on continuing to play.
Although Rodgers’ stats aren’t bad, he has nearly a career-worst 222 passing yards per game, along with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Additionally, the Jets are only scoring 18.5 points per game on average, which is 26th in the NFL.
The question of whether Rodgers is actually healthy is perhaps more important than where he will play in 2025. Otherwise, a team might be acquiring a player who is better than everyone expects for the upcoming season.
